I have taken it upon myself, with the great assistance of many fine and old corporations, to compile and hereby record for future generations the great and tumultuous history of Barons of the Galaxy. Events will not be strictly chronological, particularly due to the difficulty in establishing exact dates and timelines without complete records having been maintained. These chronicles will instead focus on the narration of events, as told by the remaining corporations from those ancient days, as well as the traces of evidence that may still be found in the old forum posts.
This post will contain updates as information is gathered and compiled. Those with knowledge of these events are encouraged to provide revisions and suggestions to provide the most accurate narrative of what has happened in the great and terrible days of old.

Chapter 1 – Concerning the Formation of the Terran Federation and the Safe Haven Accord Herein lies the accounts and tales of the intergalactic corporations that have moved out to populate the galaxy in the aftermath of the Great Earth War and the formation of the Terran Federation. After a long period of destruction and turmoil, world leader Alexander Volkov united the remaining people of earth to form the Terran Federation. The great prosperity that followed, along with the new technologies that had recently been discovered, provided new means for mankind to settle planets and moons that previously were unreachable. In the year 2165 of the old earth calendar, the Terran Federation leadership convened together in their great governmental complex in Russia. In those days the earth was still heavily irradiated and damaged from the great battles that scarred the planet, and had not yet been restored by Terran Federation remediation teams. Many who had survived the war were eager to leave their destroyed homeland, and sought new and exotic lands to settle and cultivate. Others were filled with greed and pride, seeking to exploit the yet unknown riches of the galaxy. For many, these unknown treasures would bring about their eventual downfall, as they sought ever more wealth and status in the galaxy. And thus the first explorers left earth to explore the nearby moons and planets. It was in these circumstances that the great world leaders came together to discuss the future of galactic trade and settlement. The wisest among them understood that the Terran Federation could not adequately protect and police the small but ever growing exploration and colonization of the galaxy. It was then that they brought about the Safe Haven Accord. Fearing the perilous situation of being unable to defend their people adequately, the earth government decided that their military forces will be for the defense and protection of earth first and foremost. Those who sought to grow and expand to the far reaches of the galaxy would be responsible for establishing their own order and protection. It was then that these brave and doomed men and women set forth from earth to explore and settle the galaxy.

Chapter 2 – Mathias Shaw and the Formation of the Guilds Now in the days following the establishment of the Safe Haven Accord, corporations had yet to adequately develop and construct vessels capable of reliable space travel. As corporate research teams raced to imitate and develop new space technologies from the alien space vessels held by the Terran Government, companies began to form alliances to protect their future growth and exploits in the galaxy. These alliances came to be known as the guilds. After the great war that had left earth ravaged, companies were forced to struggle against wildly fluctuating markets that often were so volatile that corporations could only profit for a few turns in a city before demand had fallen too low to make selling in that city a viable option. Of the many corporations that began after the Safe Haven Accord was established, many were unable to survive in the harsh conditions that existed after the war. These corporations were forced to suspend their operations, with many never returning to venture forth into the great and wide galaxy. It was in the rebuilding of earth that Mathias Shaw began the company known as Manifest Destiny. Being raised in and surviving the great war that had destroyed his planet, Mathias had developed an idealistic view for mankind and held the ability to motivate and lead others through his personality and force of will. Though technologically bound to the planet earth, Mathias often dreamed of the great and unknown lands beyond the confines of his home world, and was found continually dreaming and making plans to one day colonize a new system. It came to be that while Mathias was still dreaming of the stars, that the Terran Federation publicly disclosed its previously hidden alien technology. Immediately seeing his opportunity, Mathias hastened to the public unveiling of the new and mysterious space craft. In awe of what he saw, Mathias, filled with great passion and zeal, stood upon the grand stairs of the research facility and made a grand pronouncement to those who stood near. “Sisters and brothers of the great and mighty Terran Federation, harken now to the great and mysterious future that lies before us! No more shall mankind be tethered to earth, unable to reach out to our great and full potential. Behold, that day is upon us! May we now come together to reach out into the vast and terrible unknown, and bringing our strong wills and utmost resolve, strive to tame and bridle that which exists in the galaxy of which is still unknown to us.” And no small number gathered up to hear and behold his words. And a number took up to follow him and join what was now called Manifest Destiny. And also with them came Rummy Fizzwidget, the entrepeneur, and his corporation known as Business Business. It was then that the first guild was founded; and they became known as the Dogstar Confederacy. These fine and doomed corporations took first to the difficult markets of earth to raise the financing needed to research and build their space vessels. And this pursuit proved a great barrier for them. Yet they kept their eyes to the stars, dreaming of the day they would build great cities and empires in the far reaches of the galaxy. It was in these days that Mathias set his heart and attentions on the system of Sirius, dreaming of building a great nation there to rival even the strength and might of the Terran Federation. So then the first of the guilds was formed. These were the great guilds of old that provided alliances and protection for corporations who would venture out into the galaxy. Now there existed in the city of Karachi a corporation known as Safehold Corp, who sold Synthetic goods and products to local markets. The corporation, once great and profitable before the war, was now reduced to a small but stable enterprise. It came about that the CEO moved to retire from business, and the corporation chose a young man by the name of Cayleb Ahrmahk to take control of the company. No records remain after the war about Caylebs background or upbringing; yet he possessed an ability to gather around those he perceived as dangerous and powerful, and was able to forge strong bonds with those that otherwise could be potent foes. Yet also he held a strong temper, and often this fiery spirit would gain the best of him. Now Cayleb came into leadership at an opportune time, while corporations were still bound to earth. Seeing into the future, noting the great opportunities and challenges that awaited, Cayleb at once called a private conference for leaders of corporations who showed themselves strong and capable. These leaders, many of whom had done past business with Safehold, agreed to convene in a private meeting in the Safehold headquarters in Karachi. It was in these small and modest headquarters that came together the great council of old: Jim Bob Daz of JBD, and Vulpex of Machina Morituri, and Orion the Hunter of Orion Industries, and the Arch Priest Mandarus of Obsidian Church, and others of formidable skill and leadership. It was these that came together to form the Ark group, to vow to protect one another through any means necessary. It was through the existence of the Ark Group that much harmony, and conflict, would be brought to bear upon the galaxy. These and others formed as the first guilds in the galaxy. And for a time peaceful and tense markets slowly grew and flourished under the watchful guard of the Terran Federation. The day would soon come where corporations would rise against one another in violent conflict. edited by CptCommanche on 5/29/2018

Chapter 3 - Of Glvgir the Unflayed and the Coming of Ragnarok
Now many new and exciting corporations were being founded as the possibility of space exploration and settlement had become a reality. And such a number of new corporations were being founded that the new Terran Federation, still seeking to implement the new worldwide government along with the necessary regulations and restrictions, could not at the beginning effectively screen individuals who sought to settle the far reaches of the galaxy. It was then that, out of the darkness and low places of the ruined city of New York, emerged the great and notorious Glvgir the Unflayed. Downtrodden and outcast, Glvgir was no stranger to the other corporations of earth. It was he that sought to bring about the extermination of all life on the planet earth during the Great War, and the ruin and terror and that was inflicted by his hands was still fresh in the minds of many. Glvgir had not always regarded with such dread and ire. Like many of the inhabitants of earth during the Great War, Glvgir was swept up into the great conflict that had consumed the lives of so many. Glvgir himself was not drafted as a soldier, but rather as a resource and mining specialist, providing the vast materials and goods required to sustain and feed the ongoing war effort. There he served admirably, faithfully and efficiently providing huge quantities of mined ores and minerals to be used to create the materials of war. Here it was in the great mines of Chelyabinsk that he became skilled in the craft of mining. Glvgir became known as one of the elite mining experts in those days, and made no few acquaintances with others of similar craft and skill. During these days it was that the great miners of old came together in secret to form the mining guild, and looking ahead to the bright and prosperous days after the end of the war and the rebuilding on earth, they sought to work together to control the mining industries, and thus make no little profit when peace had once again come. During these days of planning and scheming, while Glvgir was continuing in his work to provide the materials for the war, the workers in a deep section of the mine uncovered a small chest made of petrified wood, which had simple and ancient carvings inscribed on the top and sides. These workers brought it at once to Glvgir, who, opening the chest, found great and ancient texts of an unknown language. Seeking the meaning found within, Glvgir brought these texts in the cover of night to the great Sage Svetlana in Nizhny Novgorod, who himself was an ancestor of the great Grigori Rasputin. And there in the cellar of his small dwelling did Svetlana uncover the great and terrible secrets of old, by consulting the mediums and powers of his, and being shown the meaning by unknown powers, translated it to the Russian language. And Glvgir had his mind disturbed and in awe of what he found within, of the destruction of mankind and the coming of Ragnarok. In the texts it was told that the one who destroyed mankind would usher the coming of a great and ancient one called Ragnarok, and it would be he who would be bestowed the power and glory to rule and reign over the new world that Ragnarok would bring. Here in Novgorod was Glvgir’s heart deceived, and malice and evil entered him. And thinking himself the one called to such a task, began to plot and scheme as to how he would destroy the remainder of humanity. It was nearing the end of the war, when Alexander Volkov first issued force with his unstoppable armies to quell the enemies of Russia, and none could stand up to his might. And great triumphs were achieved across the earth. Glvgir, his heart now set on the destruction of humankind, saw the awesome power to be harnessed through these new and mysterious machines. He at once brought together a great number of his loyal mining workers, and speaking lies and untruths to them, convinced them to join him in a great crusade to end the war. Using their mining credentials as cover, small groups of these now radicalized workers entered into the spaceport, and were able to infiltrate the nearby military shipyard where a garrison of these new ships and armies was temporarily stationed. There they were able to gain control of several tanks and battlesuits, and using the advanced weapons, destroyed the soldiers and pilots garrisoned there. Emboldened by his unexpected success, Glvgir immediately sent his new forces to a nearby base in what was once Kazakhstan, and masquerading as friendly units, unexpectedly attacked the military units there before they had the opportunity to respond. And there Glvgir captured a large quantity of advanced fighting forces. He then sent forth his armies, instructing them to destroy key targets that would hasten the downfall of humanity, and it was by their hands that much suffering and death was brought upon earth. Then it came to be that soldiers of Russian military heard of the rogue forces causing wanton destruction across much of the planet. And detached from their number was The Yellow Monolith crewed by members of the corporation Machina Morituri, before they had yet joined the Ark Group; along with them came many other ships, tasked with stopping and destroying the rogue armies. A great chase then began, with the The Yellow Monolith relentlessly pursuing the forces of Glvgir, who still went about causing much chaos and destruction. At last it came about that Vulpex, captain of The Yellow Monolith, learned the secret location of Glvgir in the mining complex of Chelyabinsk, and at once he sent his forces to the mines. And entering into the complex, the forces of Machina Morituri did battle against the armies of Glvgir. Seeing his peril, Glvgir ordered all his forces to return to Chelyabinsk to defend at all costs; and a great battle happened in the skies over the expanse of forests and fields of the land; and captain Vulpex and his forces were victorious. Filled with despair, Glvgir entered at once into the mines, and passing through the unknown ways, came out unharmed. It was during this time that Glvgir became known as the Unflayed. And there were his great and terrible forces defeated. He at once sought out the Sage Svetlana to discern if he had acted rashly, and upon arrival in Novgorod, found to his great agony that the great sage had been killed during an attack by his own marauding forces. The anguish in his heart was unceasing, and a fire burned in him that could not be unkindled. And from there he left the great land of Russia, and passing over the sea, came to the ruined city of New York. And there he stayed for some time in the dark places, brooding evermore ominous and ruinous thoughts. edited by CptCommanche on 6/7/2018

Chapter 4 – The Lansraad and the Mining Guild
Now Glvgir had escaped, and though many had searched for him to bring about justice for the destruction brought about by his hands, he had remained hidden for a long period in New York. There he plotted his eventual return, to bring about his annihilation of earth. After some period of harmony, with corporations focused on the new opportunities afforded to them, Glvgir emerged from his hiding place. And his heart still full of malice, he at once went to speak with the government council of New York. There he used his greatest skills of speech and persuasion to speak his mind to the politicians of New York. And after a great and lengthy oration, he there convinced them to announce him as the Grand Mayor of New York. And impressed by his skills in the mining trades and administrative ability, the council gave their full support to Glvgir. With his dark reputation among corporations, Glvgir immediately disguised his identity, fearing the wrath and fury that would befall him should his name become known; and he did not disclose his true name to the council members. He instead asked all to refer to him simply as the Grand Mayor. Having now gained power over the City of New York, the Grand Mayor set out immediately to establish and build the organization and the economy of the city. His great skill in the mining trades was not put to waste, and soon the city was flourishing under his careful administration. It was here that he started the Lansraad Guild, as a means to consolidate allies around him. And joining him was Edward Bishop of Aristocratech. Now the mining guild had continued on after the end of the war, and losing the leadership and direction brought by Glvgir, they soon reorganized, led by the corporation CHOAM. And retaining many of their workers and skilled craftsmen, they became the wealthiest of any corporation at that time. It was said that CHOAM had soon accumulated over 9 million credits in their stores, far more than any other corporation. With their great wealth and prosperity, other corporations soon looked on with envy at their success. With the incredible armies of the Terran Federation still protecting earth, few corporations had yet begun to manufacture weapons and defenses of their facilities. And under the cover of night, armed men from a radical group called LOL U Mad moved into the city of Rabat, and there begun attacking the facilities owned by the Mining Guild. Seeing their peril and lacking adequate weapons to fight the aggressors, The Mining Guild sent for aid from the Terran Federation. But being unconcerned with the action, the Terran Federation sent no response in reply, and kept their forces restrained from engaging in the fight. Thus the Mining Guild suffered great damage, and only with tremendous effort from the workers were they able to finally repel the attacks. And a great many members of the mining guild died that day. The corporations of earth were left in dismay as they saw a lack of response from the Terran Federation. Moved by fear of what may come, a great many corporations began to train their own private military forces to protect and secure their own assets. And it was in this time that the Arch Priest Manduras of the Obsidian Church set his mind to build a great and terrible military. And wasting no time, he set about the creation of his grand fleets and armies. The Grand Mayor of New York took notice as well, and seeing the great wealth and the growing strength of the Mining Guild, sent at once to communicate with their ruling council. And with his cunning and deceitful ways, he hid his identity as Glvgir, and portrayed himself as a great mining expert from the Americas. And there he began to rebuild his relationship with the mining guild, as he secretly sought to turn it to his own gain. Now the mining guild had continued to grow, and soon had over 20 members due to their open enrollment in the guild. CHOAM had soon set up a committee in an attempt to organize the members into a unified force. The group was often chaotic, and rarely resembled an organized group, instead acting with little unified direction among the members. And CHOAM often called the members together to attempt to ratify a charter between them, but this proved to be a difficult and futile undertaking. For a period of time the Mining Guild would lack structure and a unity of purpose, till the coming day when all the corporations of earth would be set as a tempest against one another. And that day was coming soon, as the deep and secret purposes of the Ark Group would soon be brought to light. edited by CptCommanche on 6/26/2018

Chapter 5: Of the Alien Artifacts and the Settling of Erben Not long after the Safe Haven Accord was passed, the Terran Federation revealed the location of great and ancient ruins of an alien base on the dark side of the moon. The base contained large amounts of artifacts yet unknown to those on earth. The Terran Federation opened this site for exploitation by corporations, and, lacking foresight, left the administration of the site to the corporations. Now a great number of companies greatly desired the secrets to be found in those ancient halls, and several corporations began constructing starships and laid plans for research facilities to be placed on the moon. In these days no corporations had yet developed the capability for space travel, and great urgency had now been placed on the development of the technologies. These events did not go unnoticed in the high towers of Karachi, where Cayleb Arhmahk dwelt. Seeing the clamor that was made among all corporations at the announcement of this great alien site, he at once called for the great leaders of the Ark corporations to convene in secret. In those tall towers of Karachi it was that the Ark Group held long counsel together, to determine what must be done with this new knowledge. And having convened for no short period, the group finally came to an agreement of what must be done. And Cayleb, standing in the midst of the assembly, set forth the great and terrible mandate: “I stand here thus, among my companions and associates; listen now to my words, for they are both wonderful and terrible to behold! It is we, this assembly of fine and noble persons, of the greatest minds on the planet earth – this is the assembly that has come together to decide the fate of this great artifact site that has thus been revealed to us. It is of no small importance that we have held council for these days previous. Let it be decided that the great members of the Ark group should take it upon themselves to secure this location by whatever means necessary; and by our leadership and strength, may we bring an accord together for the fair and equitable use of this site for all corporations, and in so doing, bring peace and stability to all corporations. Together we must attain to these spacefaring technologies with the utmost haste and determination, that we might gain control of this site, and there fulfill our purposes. Let us go forth now, and fulfill this oath we now bond ourselves to!” And with his words the assembly solemnly stood, and took an oath together to gain control of the moon artifact site. They then departed with the utmost determination to begin their research and laborings. And as each leader returned to their cities, they looked forward with dread of what could be should they not control the site. For it was fear of a great conflict that led Ark to take the oath, and together they believed that their actions could prevent greater wars from breaking out over these alien artifacts. These things were kept with the utmost secret, until the time had come to execute their plans. And of those in the Ark group, none was filled with greater determination than Jim Bob Daz of JBD. At once he set his whole corporation to task to develop the technologies required for space travel and the arming of men for space combat. But it was the great Arch Priest Manduras of the Obsidian Church who began building a grand army, and soon he held no small force of soldiers at his command. These all set forth with their oath guiding them, yet other corporations on Earth had no small plans of their own. There now existed a corporation called Planetary Resources, and they were led by no obscure man by the name of Thomas Cromwell. And like many others, Thomas formed a guild to gather allies around himself; that guild he called the Ghost Syndicate. Thomas was extremely studious, and was considered by many to be a scholar. Often he poured over the histories of man, and it brought him great joy to hear of the successes and failures of his past kindred; yet now his mind was filled with wonder of what could become of the future of mankind. It was in his studies that he came across geological surveys of the entire system that had just been published by the Terran Federation. Keenly interested, he analyzed it carefully. It was within that Thomas discovered a great vein of resources located on the planet Mars. And so great were the quantity of ores on this location, that none since discovered has ever rivaled the vast stores held there. At once he declared that Mars was now under the control of the Ghost Syndicate. And they set forth to settle this site as soon as they were able. Now the Lord Mayor had also seen such reports, and knowing the value of such a place, sent forth a spacecraft developed from the knowledge he had gained during his days of destruction, when he yet was known as Glvgir. And being a great mining expert, he disclosed the techniques and technologies required to mine resources in the void of space. So it was that the Lord Mayor sent forth the first explorers to establish a mining colony in space; and arriving on Mars, they called that place Erben, and here set to establish their mining colony. Thus it was that the first settlement was made outside of Earth. Now shortly after, Planetary Resources had finished developing their first spacecraft. Immediately Thomas ordered this vessel to the site of the newly established Erben mine. And upon arriving, the crew was dismayed to find a mining colony already established there. Thomas was filled anger over the violation of his claim to Mars, and he ordered the total destruction of the mining base. And there over Erben was the first combat in space; and it was Planetary Resources who prevailed. There they set about destroying all that had been established, and none survived from the attack. This news quickly spread among corporations on Earth, and the action quickly became known as the Mars Massacre. This brought about a great deal of discussion and arguing among the corporations still on earth. So The Ghost Syndicate took control of Erben, and soon had established their own mining colony there.
