The Terran Federation Offices of Economic and Tax Regulation unilaterally passed massive tax regulations essentially forcing numerous corporation to readjust their own economic and financial strategies. A massive tax has been placed on all goods throughout the known galaxy, in some cases dropping earnings by many corporations into running deficits. The Terran Federation Office issued the following statement, “Your corporations are run badly, you run your corporations based on Wild West mechanics, and those mechanics have matured. We are closing the loopholes to making a profit.” Many corporations have voiced their outrage regarding this matter: “This adversely affects larger corporations, it will take them a fairly large amount of reinvesting to compensate for the losses already being incurred.” -Reginald Flywheel, United Cogs Republics “I would have liked a warning before waking up today wondering why I’m barely breaking even.” -Mathis Shaw, Manifest Destiny, LLC “I am already rolling with the punches, most of my industry has been salvaged as it is useless to me now, military is everything!” -Jimbobdaz, JBD “Some of us are heavily invested in our cities and planets, transparency and open lines of communications are critical if we are to survive and prosper. Terran Federation Officials have announced sweeping changes in the welfare program for all citizens throughout the galaxy. The Basic Living Credit, or BLC, has been created as a type of welfare payment issued to every family. The amount of the BLC is determined by the number of children or dependents each family has/claims. This unprecedented rollout has already seen its effects reaching across the entire sector. City populations are increasing at an unprecedented rate and corporations are slowly adjusting to the new regulations enforced by the Terran Federation. 8/2/2018 Topic: Galactic News Network NewsNetwork	GNN: Raiders Ravage Planet due to Slow Response by TLF The pirate group attacked industries with heavy battlecruisers, in a reported raid on new alloy technologies being developed on the planet. SICARDY, SIRIUS VIII: A large number of industrial sites have been destroyed or damaged on Sirius VIII this week by a large pirate group that had based on the planet. Raids began early on turn 63455, targeting less defended industrial centers located on the planet. Soon raiders had made an attack into the city center of Sicardy on turn 63458, before eventually launching subsequent raids in the cities of Lula, Harriet, and Brecher. A combined force from the Liason Federation eventually responded on turn 63612 and destroyed the raider base there, with some assistance from an Exordium armada based out of Sol. The response came over 150 turns after raids had begun, prompting inquiries into why the defensive forces took so long to respond to the planet-wide raids. Before the attack on the raider base, local defensive forces supported by the orbital gun OGN90622 were tasked with defending against overwhelming odds by the pirate forces. These forces proved unable to effectively counter the threat. Raiders were able to destroy over 120 logistic points of Industry owned by Kosmere Unlimited across the planet, as well as several other production centers owned by numerous other corporations. When asked about the motivation behind the raids, Emperor KarmicKoala stated: “The pirates were most likely motivated by our recent discovery of a new type of ALLOY. Unfortunately it was stolen in the raids, it took a lot of research at the sicardy site to uncover the details. We fear it will be sold to third parties. We were planning the introduction of new types of electronics and power cells.” These new technologies were to be called “Neo-Electronics”, and represented some of the most advanced micro-component research in the galaxy. The future of Sicardy remains uncertain at this point, with much of the raw material industries required to support the city destroyed in the raids. In a release to the press, Emperor Karmic Koala revealed uncertainty for the planet in the aftermath of the attacks. “The long term plan for my corporation is currently unknown. This was a big hit and the board of directors is very upset. We still have plenty of liquid funds, but they are thinking about restructuring the company. Sicardy's fate hangs in the balance of this decision. We've dedicated tens of thousands of turns to the growth of Sirius and Sicardy as a whole. We aren't at a point of throwing this away.” Karmic Koala is also currently Star Lord of Sirius. Should his corporation restructure, it is unclear if this title will be passed on to another planetary emperor or if Karmic Koala will retain it for himself. Sirius VIII is one of three planets in the Sirius system with an Emperor and is essential if Sirius is to retain a Star Lord for the long term.

KARACHI, EARTH: The Earth Food Assistance (EFA) program implemented by Emperor Platini has been forced to shut down all operations when the Imperial Financial Committee (IFC) failed to agree on a budget allocation amount before the summer holiday break on turn 64100. The EFA was founded as a way to provide subsidized food to all communities on earth, specifically targeting the underserved markets. The program has proven to be financially unstable, forcing the IFC to pass periodic budget allocations from the imperial treasury to keep the program afloat. Funding was due to run out during the holiday break, and the failure of the IFC to allocate the necessary funds has seen the program temporarily shut down. Following the failure of the IFC, the EFA has been forced to shut down all distribution hubs on earth, and has had no choice but to cut funding to their essential utilities, including the security and refrigeration systems. The lack of security and proper food storage has resulted in the theft or total loss of over 2 million tons of food products held by the EFA. The state run farms were also required to cease operations. Bryce Grygnon, the commissioner responsible for the EFA, has been removed from office following the disaster. Emperor Gregius Platini has since appointed Jeffrus Aedard, son of former Starcorp CEO Davix Aedard, to take over as commissioner and to rebuild the program with a more stable foundation. “This loss has been a tremendous setback for the food assistance program,” stated Aedard in a press conference. “Our top priority is to create a sustainable, efficient system that will accomplish the goals of the EFA.” The news has broken just as Emperor Platini has officially been reelected as Emperor. CANTOR, YRSA I: The cosmopolitan towers of the metropolis of Hycis rise over the lush landscape of Yrsa I, which stand as a testament to the drive and vision of the new corporations that have sought to re-colonize Sector 7. Led by Xerothane of Yrsa Industries, the colony has attracted several new startups that have proven greatly successful in establishing and growing the new settlements in Yrsa and Gilliam. The sector population has exceeded 60 million, and has been drawing large numbers of immigrants from Sirius and Sol to settle there. The city of Hycis on Yrsa I has exceeded 30 million inhabitants, making it the 7th largest city in the galaxy, surpassing Sicardy in Sirius. The group of corporations has organized together under the Sector 7 Consortium, and is currently led by Yrsa Industries and Offworld Engineering. These corporations sought new challenges in Sector 7 after feeling constricted and un-challenged in Sector 1. When asked about the success of the Sector 7 Consortium, Tandor Harken, the new spokesperson for the consortium, stated “While we have had assistance from COGS, ultimately a sense of camaraderie and fellowship have greatly contributed to the Consortiums efforts, as we have all been working together to tackle problems as they arise and to strategically target products needed by Yrsa Primes cities.” The renewed efforts to colonize Sector 7 come after 2 previous failed attempts, the first led by the Sector 7 Expedition, and more recently by the Federation Starfleet guild. Both colonies began enthusiastically, but soon failed after the eventual withdrawal of support from the partner corporations, which caused financial strain and economic collapse for the colonies. S-11 Gratum Hydrochlorate, or what survivors named “Gratum” (where the Latin based “Serendipity” comes from). The effects of Gratum are widespread. Millions of citizens spanning across the stars have simply lost the will to live. Their homes forever darkened, the loved ones left behind have many questions, the loudest of which; “Why?” The Terran Federation has issued the following statement, “We cannot allow one city to be the economic center of the universe.” Needless to say, the heaviest hit system in this radical population control by the TF was the Gulyaev System. The system has seen massive growth with the influx of several corporations and the continued presence of ARK and its Protectorate has deterred hostile actions to be taken against the citizens of the system. When asked for a response to the actions of the TF and recent incursions to the System by Space Pirates, Cayleb Ahrmahk gave the following response: “Of course we will always have those who seek to destroy, therefore when we cannot prevent hostile actions, we respond in kind and eradicate the threat in a timely manner, the recent actions taken by the Terran Federation has left little doubt in my mind as to who the greater evil is, and rest assured investigations are currently underway to determine the feasibility of ousting any remaining TF forces from Gulyaev Space.” We reached out for a statement from the Emperor of Earth, Gregius Platini, asking if they were aware of the chemical agent being produced on their own planet by those tasked with defending it, the Terran Federation; we received the following statement: “The Emperor had no knowledge of the chemical or that it would be used by the Terran Federation for harmful purposes. This act is despicable, and the responsible parties should be held accountable for their actions.” - Axil Landery, Secretary of Imperial Communications Leaked reports have also alluded to a corroboration between research analysts and military personnel in the study of this chemical agent. The reports are tying close similarities to those killed by Gratum to the Hostile Raiders and Pirates that plague the populated systems. These reports are still in their infancy, but if proven to be accurate, the Terran Federation will have even more to answer to. DELHI, EARTH: Square miles of city remain vacant and battered in the city of Delhi as Earth struggles to recover from the planet-wide fighting of the Terran War. Delhi represents the plight of numerous cities on earth that are struggling to recover from the vast death and destruction brought about by the fighting. Emperor Gregius Platini has, along with support from Titan Industrial, vowed to deploy geotechnical artifacts to aid in the recovery from the massive destruction and bloodshed. This has come after the Emperor declared an official state of Emergency for the planet earth. Deployment of these artifacts began approximately 125 turns ago; however the emperor has been unclear about exactly how long the boosting will continue on. Even with the deployment of the artifacts, the civilian losses from the war are estimated to have exceeded 50 million, and experts believe it could be thousands of turns before the smaller, lesser served cities such as Delhi can recover. Cayleb Arhmahk, CEO of Safehold Corp and the leader of the attacking fleets, conducted the attacks in response to the release of Gratum chemical agent by the Terran Federation, which has been held responsible for untold numbers of deaths in the galaxy, well exceeding 100 million. The agent continues to kill thousands of people per day as independent health agents struggle to contain it. After hearing reports of the high death tolls on earth, Mr. Arhmahk made an official statement: ‘The small loss of life attributed to routing out those guilty of crimes against humanity is truly regrettable. But we will not stray from our mission. Those who are still loyal to the old TF regime will be eradicated.” It appears the Emperor of Earth gave his full approval to the Safehold Corporation for the attacks prior to the combat taking place. In an official report released after the end of the war, the Imperial Advisors had initially estimated a total civilian loss of just over 5 million. Emperor Platini has come under heavy criticism for allowing such a reckless action to have taken place without having conducted a more thorough analysis of the risks involved. MOSCOW, RUSSIA – The Terran Federation has begun issuing new galactic statutes this week that allow for corporation-led guilds to hold funds and assets within a guild-owned bank. Previously, guilds were not allowed to hold assets or finances, and acted primarily as a way for corporations to organize together. The Terran Federation has already had to face numerous obstacles concerning the new regulations. An error in the guild taxation system has inadvertently transferred large sums of credits from the Terran treasury into individual corporation bank accounts. It is estimated that well over 1 billion credits were transferred before the issue was corrected. Other issues have arisen as well, with guild leadership seemingly still unable to purchase units with guild funds, as well as guildmasters being unable to control assets that have been allocated to the guild. The Terran Federation appears to be working on implementing these measures, though it is unclear exactly when these will be put into place. The new statutes appear to be written to allow for greater cooperation and protection for corporations operating within a guild. Numerous corporations had previously filed complaints concerning the harsh restrictions placed on guilds and have often lobbied for less restrictive measures to be put into place. Some opponents of the Terran Federation have declared that the new regulations as being long overdue, and have decried the poor implementation. These include Ark members Safehold Corp and the former JBD, the latter of whom has shunned material belongings after ingesting a form of hallucinogenic drug native to Gulyaev VII. JBD now lives in the wilderness of Gul VII as a hermit. Safehold has been dramatically scaling back operations in Gulyaev II, citing frustrations with the Terran Government.

The wormhole is invisible to the naked eye. ILIAS, GULYAEV II – Standing under the gleaming towers overhead, an oppressing silence fills the famous Lubricant Square in Ilias. The now desolate tourist destination was previously vibrant and thriving center of commerce and entertainment on the west end of Ilias. It now stands as a ghastly reminder of the unprecedented economic conditions in the wake of the Exodus and the ensuing economic collapse occurring across the galaxy. Entire sections of the city have fallen vacant as more and more citizens have left for the recently discovered wormhole that leads to the Cogs homeland. As many as 500k citizens were leaving per day during the heights of the exodus, although these numbers have now dwindled to a fraction of that amount. Reports indicate that Ilias is actually experiencing marginal growth in population currently, and it is unclear if this will continue, or if it is simply from recent immigrant arrivals who are fleeing the economic difficulties felt more severly in other portions of the galaxy. Planet Earth in particular has experienced tremendous loss in citizenship due to famine and emigration. Analysts believe that total population on earth has dropped to 60 million, almost 1/3 of its population 1000 turns ago. Graphic models indicate population could drop as low as 50 million before recovering. In the meantime, numerous corporations have already liquidated their assets as the prices and volumes of products remain low. Others have begun large-scale reductions in their product offerings and standing military in an effort to reduce costs. The galactic recession has occurred after the discovery of a scientific anomaly causing ships to fall under intense fuel shortages. The resulting depression, coupled with the discovery of the wormhole, has led to shocking decrease in populations across the galaxy. Economic forecasts indicate that the stabilizing population levels in major cities in Earth and Gulyaev signals an strengthening of the economy, though it is unclear how quickly the galaxy will recover and if it will ever reach the same levels it had attained prior to the depression.

Research and production facilities have already been established on Mars, Mercury, and the moon as corporations seek to mine the incredibly rich minerals and materials from these locations. The labs at the moon are currently conducting research into recently discovered alien technology there, while facilities on Mars and Mercury have begun extracting metals and minerals for use back on earth. Though these colonies contain only a few workers who monitor the operations of the site, some corporations hope for much more in the near future. Cogs ad Infinitum, who has built structures on Mars, hopes to establish permanent, self-sustaining settlements elsewhere in the solar system. MOSCOW, EARTH: Reports are still coming in, but it appears that a temporal shift has occurred and the universe has changed forever. Though no official historical archive exists, millions of citizens on Earth remember a past that is no longer the past. The Terran Federation has not responded to our request for comment, but others have been very adamant that the human race once spread throughout the galaxies not too long ago. These comments would easily be discounted as the ramblings of a crazy person, except that the comments corroborate with millions of others. According to interviews conducted, the people of Earth once spread across the known and currently unknown systems, with massive cities in several systems. Slowly a creeping darkness began to extinguish the lights in these far off systems until only a handful of cities existed beyond Sol. Then without warning, millions of people disappeared and only a small percentage of those people reappeared on Earth. After analyzing the memories of many, it is safe to assume that we have been transported in time and space to an alternate reality where fledgling corporations were just beginning to harness the power that was once held tightly by the Terran Federation. Already now, corporations have begun to build space-faring vessels to traverse the system and begin to rebuild. Additionally, a rising Confederation of Corporations has been formed known as the Trade Confederacy of Sol. An announcement was recently made that they are laying claim to an extremely fertile location on Earth and have warned other corporations that hostile force will be used on any found trespassing, this event is currently developing; but we have spoken with Green Inc., a leader of this faction, and they have issued the following statement: Trade Confederacy of Sol [TCS] has a strong structure and a clear goal in mind. We are highly organized and we want to play an important role in regards of a growing Earth’s environment. That’s the reason why we’re focusing on two cities on Earth right now. That leaves us with essential questions. How to feed millions of people in strong growing city markets and how can we achieve that independently to guarantee a steady growth? The grand ceremonies will last for several days as the people of earth celebrate their first Chancellor of the new Corporate Democracy. Cayleb won the election by a strong margin, outpacing the opposition with 14,100 votes while his primary opponent, Captain Commanche of Boldor Industries, gained 9,798 votes. Cayleb accounted for 56 % of the votes on earth, with Commanche coming next with 39%. Lady Aura of Sweet Fruit Supply and CEO Orion of Orion Industries also received votes. When asked about his convincing victory, Cayleb felt that the current political situation combined with his long standing relations with other corporations was key to his appointment as Chancellor: “I feel that the recent events that have occurred on Earth have weighed heavily on the voting corporations of Earth. The relationships I have built with other industrious corporations definitely helped in securing the votes needed.” Cayleb is likely referring to the Trade Confederacy of Sol’s claim to the 20:10 location on Earth, of which Boldor Industries is part of. Much of this increase is due to the expanded civilian service and end product sectors, with civilian services being the main driving force in the economy over that period, showing an increase from 1,180 manufacturing output in turn 2000, compared to 5,260 in turn 4000. This represents a 445% increase in civilian services over this period. End product manufaturing has seen an increase, growing from 901 output to 2,735 in this same period, showing 303% growth of the end product market segment. Earth Growth Forecast GDP growth is forecasted to continue strongly into the next 4000 turns. With cities beginning to exceed populations of 5 million, our analysts expect to see a strong growth in end product manufacturing. The growth of the end product market will also drive an increase in components and raw materials to meet the manufacturing requirements of the new end product factories, though much of this growth is anticipated to be on other planetary bodies as corporations continue to increase mining extraction operations across the system. Expect to see a continued growth in civilian services as well, though forecasts anticipate that the growth will slow down considerably compared to the previous period. Population growth is expected to continue at a strong rate, though indications show that the increasing demand for end products may have an effect on the growth rate of cities as corporations adjust to meet the demand of these products. Though a small population overall, Mars already hosts production facilities for components, end products and civilian services. This strong presence of production gives Mars the highest GDP per capita in the galaxy, with significant exports to the relatively large markets on earth. Mars Growth Forecast Growth forecast show Ninde likely reaching 4.5 million population by turn 8000, though the most aggressive prediction models show growth potentially reaching 5.5 million by that time. Our market analysts show this possibility to be very unlikely. GDP growth is expected to slow somewhat compared to the current trends, though analysis suggests a continued growth in line with the increase of population that is projected. Product Markets Several markets are experiencing oversaturation as competition among corporations have driven prices to historic lows. Synthetics in particular have been oversupplied, with the planetary demand average at 52.6%. Other oversupplied products include Furnishings at 53.6%, Polymers at 61.3%, and clothing at 65.1%. Several manufacturers have halted production in these sectors until prices rebound. Two different end products are under supplied at the moment: Industrial Goods and Vehicles. It also speaks to the gate's namesake, as placing it around the Moon supports our neighbor Lady Aura's settlement there. 11/21/2019 Topic: Galactic News Network NewsNetwork	Peace Corps attacks MetroTech assets in New York City Turn 6719 Major fighting has broken out in the outer portions of New York city as Peace Corp forces have continued offensives against MetroTech forces there. NEW YORK, EARTH: A system-wide conflict has seen another major escalation today as the heavily armored forces of Peace Corps entered the city of New York in an effort to cripple and destroy major assets belonging to MetroTech. This fighting is the first instance of major combat on earth since the great Terran War. Peace Corps forces entered the city at dawn and made rapid advances using heavily armored ground forces supported by aerial interceptors and ground bombers. Cyber Commandos of Peace Corps managed to infiltrate a MetroTech shipyard facility in the midst of the fighting, where they inflicted immense damage to freighters and an advanced fleet of Zenith Hypercraft stationed there. A combined defense force of MetroTech, Terran Federation guard units, and Sweet Fruit Supply’s orbital cannons eventually forced the Peace Corps forces to withdraw from the city, but reports indicate that fighting has once again broken out in the city. In response to criticism for the attacks, Peace Corps made a public statement in which he stated: “Normally I am against fighting on Earth, it is supposed to be a safe zone for smaller corps and peaceful corps. But in this case, Metro started a war with myself and another corp and made threats to even more corps… I felt that my only option was to remove his military first before he could do that, for the sake of my own corp and the sake of the others he was going to attack.” The conflict began when Peace Corps attacked and destroyed a MetroTech water purification facility on Phobos. This attack was followed by an escalation of tensions between MetroTech and TranSol Logistics, during which TranSol appeared to be preparing for offensive actions against MetroTech; this soon led to MetroTech attacking and destroying facilities belonging to both corporations. KindTech has since joined the conflict in a defensive pact with TranSol to protect his interests in the outer planets from further attacks. The conflict has remained off Earth until the recent attacks on New York City. The attacks have resulted in an immediate ban of Peace Corps from Delores, where the sole artifact mining location exists. The attacks clearly broke the charter as set by Sweet Fruit Supply, which requires Peace Corps to immediately remove their facilities from the moon artifact location. The emperor Safehold has yet to make a public statement regarding the attacks on Earth.

The increase has been a result of corporations bringing their production lines into full efficiency along with the increased markets for civilian services and end products. The growth of the civilian service sector has been the main factor in GDP growth, expanding over 470% to over 30,000 units from turn 4000 to 8000. End Products have increased as well but have not kept pace with the market growth, increasing from 2,735 to 16,051, showing a 486% growth over the reported period. Despite this growth, end products and civilian services remain undersupplied on Earth. Earth Growth Forecast With the lack of supply for end products and civilian services, forecasters are predicting growth on earth to level out during the coming period, with Earth already showing a mild decline in population. This trend is expected to continue for several hundred turns before stabilizing, with small growth expected throughout the rest of the period. Indicators predict continued growth of the civilian services and end product markets, but the GDP growth will cool as corporations continue to reach their logistic caps. Growth models show a sharp decline in GDP growth during this period, which is a natural outcome following the tremendous periods of growth from the previous periods. Growth is still expected to be storngly positive for the first half of the period from 8,000 to 12,000, before slowing in the second half as manufacturing growth slows. Interstellar trade is expected to see an increase as corporations continue importing resources from off world mining locations. Mars The city of Ninde has seen strong growth last quarter, outgrowing the median predictions forecasted by most economic models. The city now hosts over 5 million inhabitants and boasts the highest GDP per capita in the system at 39,724; This is due to the large number of metal exports to foreign markets. Mars has seen a strong increase in manfuacturing over the last 1,000 turns with end product output growing to 850, making it less much dependent on foreign imports. Mars Growth Forecast Mars growth has slowed considerably, and is currently remaining stable near 5 million. Population is expected to begin increasing as the manufacturing segment continues to grow, forcing demand levels back down and increasing growth. Expect moderate growth, with models predicting population rising 2-3 million in the coming period. Mercury The city of Dupree has seen remarkable growth as TCS has invested heavily in its' growth. Population has stabilized as demand levels have risen for services and end products. Mercury is currently under the control of the guild TCS and appears to be a controlled market. Corporations seeking to sell here should first contact the local government concerning product sales and infrastructure development. Mercury Growth Forecast Mercury has seen a small decline at the end of last quarter, but shows signs of continuing growth into the future. The city will likely reach over 10 million population by turn 12,000. GDP growth is expected to be strong as more TCS members invest in industry and infrastructure there. Product Markets End Product prices have remained fairly constant in the previous 500 turns, with only a 5% increase in demand levels during that time. Furnishings and gadgets are experiencing high demands att 123% and 117% respectively. Power Cells have the lowest industrial output levels of components, reflecting the high demand levels seen on Eath.
