Contracts for Product Stacks
Doctor DreadAdministrator
|
These last few days we worked on making it possible to sell a standing stack of product as is, much the same way you can sell a military unit. You can still make a contract for delivering a certain type of product over a certain amount of time but now you can also just pick an existing stack and sell that without delivery, it will just change owners and transfer money on that turn. On the Contract drop down list for the type of Asset to Trade it should be called "List My Product Stacks".
If the Stack is currently on another unit. It will drop to ground first. If it was set to salvage, it will cancel the salvage. The stack can very well change quantity or disappear from turn to turn but what you see on the contract on the turn you're looking at it should be what it will be when the transfer goes through if you accept that contract. The contract transfer goes before anything else in the turn
We also made a few minor changes here and there. Geo Booster won't spam a comms message anymore. Gaia Booster and the Stellar one for the system still will.
There are some more quality of life changes with the UI I would like to make but I'm pushing them back for now.
The remaining things I want to get into the game before a Beta Restart are:
Mining Asteroids Payment System Dark Star / Commonwelath NPC events
Depending on how fast that goes in we might be looking at a Beta Restart at the end of the month. Then during that month things like payment system and cleanup will happen without any new features |

Tweaking how Paid Accounts and Sol will work

Good opinions all around =)
I've found that trying to prevent multi accounts on a free browser game just keeps "normal" people from having 2-3 accounts if they like but doesn't stop the "real Problem" player from having 100. Officially the rule is one account per player. The rule isn't so much having multi accounts, its what you're doing with them. The "ban" will come from abuse when you use 50 free accounts to suicide on someone etc. And even something like banning players might actually come to a vote of some kind, a threshold of reports against another player.
There is a difference you may have overlooked on voting. your voting power is based on your Industry in the appropriate location. whether that is the city, planet or system. A vote for rulership in Jacksonville for example only looks at those who have industry in Jacksonville and the weight of your vote is how much output you have at that location. Also, you don't have to have a Corp HQ there to vote. You can be based on another planet, but if you have some industry there you can vote with that industrys weight, not your total industry.
The Free accounts aren't "trapped" on Earth. just their Corp HQ is. They can setup industry and trade etc. anywhere they like. You can make an ACP item and have a ship deploy it outside of Sol. The Corp HQ just makes it easier because you can build directly from it and the Corp HQ offers a bonus to lower he cost of all nearby production.
There are no "Caps" linked to free accounts, that's something we don't want to get into or at least keep to a very small amount . The paid accounts will most likely have the ability to do convenience things that we wouldn't want 100 clone accounts doing, like upload images and get comms messages pushed to emails/mobile.
Having a good reason for a paid account is the reverse of the problem free games usually have =) Voting seemed a good limitation, maybe just make more regular votes that influence the game harder. |

Its just a suggestion but you could add a building that work as a market where you cant produce anything but the more you lvl it up the more you can sell(quantity and different item)
This is already in the game, its called "Distribution Center". It has 10 slots of Buy/Sell to the city you are in. You Buy Sell power goes up as you level it. |

City Leader?

Any "laws" that we make would revolve around the money and trade. Such as banning guilds from trading in a certain city, or certain goods. It wouldn't stop you from contracting with another corp and trading that way. Terran Fed actually controls the currency so that is in story and practical. But of course a "Law" that says you can't bring your capital ships here shouldn't be enforced by the game. I mean you still can bring your ships and the game somehow can warn you or the ruler and he can deal with it. Laws dealing with trade "To the City" can be enforced by the game, they won't accept it. You can even get away with some law that prevents certain structures from operating, maybe even certain units like monoliths from being built but not stop the movement of ships. |

Defending home town

I am just wondering about how the mechanics of this works. I know on Earth or all of SOL we have Terran Federation troops. I myself started in Jacksonville a few days back. I guess out of general paranoia I felt I should pitch in on defending my home town.. I have even gone so far as deploying at least an Infantry unit at my mining / extraction locations.
Anyways when I first started I saw a pretty nice stack (as in 5 or more) of 'Rail Guns' in Jacksonville owned by Terran Fed (Just going to call em' the TF now on). After I built my first one they all disappeared. The TF still has other military here but that stack of Rail Guns (level 9) are no longer here and now I feel even more obligated to pitch in on defense. So my main question is that in producing a Rail gun did I chase off the TF Rail guns. Its too bad since I only made one and it is still not yet LvL 9.. So in pitching in did I just create a weak point??
At this time I have made a couple more and am working on upgrading them - I realize Earth is probably better defended then most alternatives, I do not see other players actually building fixed defenses in their HQ Earth bases. Still you never know what with all the Kaiju spawning.
You have the gist of it =) There are TF units in every sol city, they have a couple of random defenses and units. They respawn within a few turns of being destroyed. THere is also a few capital ships on each plant that meander to combat zones and squat them in guard mode for a while. The size of those units are actualy based ont he population of the city, if the city has 50 million pop it going to get all level 10 units.
The TF units are there not to totally stop people but to make it a lot less attractive to attack small players in the cities. You should make some units to defend your industry outside the cities though, there is no protection exept for the captial ships that might show up after a few round of combat. |

Yes I did turn around and I am going back. I just hope you are paying for gas...
Please let me get there before they die... Looks like I better get coffee on :coffee New Orders:

You may be asking what was I doing at a rest stop in Kentucky anyways. Well Captain that's a great question, the way they fly this ship I am wondering this myself.. edited by IamGroot on 3/11/2017
This has happened to other players. I haven't figured out where it is coming from yet. I've seen it maybe 3 times total. I think it might have something to do with upgrading units that are loaded but that shouldn't be possible. I'll take a look at it again and see if I can figure out where it comes from. |

Beta Test Reset is coming in April 2017
Doctor DreadAdministrator
|
We re planning to reset the Beta Test game On April 1st (no that's not an April fools joke!) with major changes to the game. Hopefully after a month of this new beta we can begin to go Live.
The Galaxy will be reset and everyone is going to start fresh. As promised in the original Beta Test, whoever has backed the project through Kickstarter, or paid through PayPal afterwards, will get their bonuses again when the Beta restarts.
The major change is going to be that only Earth, not all of Sol, is going to be the "Safe-er Zone". Only Paid accounts will be able to move their Corp HQs off of Earth and all the cities inside of Earth will be protected by the Terran Fed. The other 9 planets will be treated no different than another solar system. Free accounts can still build anywhere they like but their Corp HQ is confined to Earth. Pretty much replace "Sol" with "Earth" when it comes to any mechanics that involved Sol.
Free Accounts will not be able to vote in any event anymore. That includes elections. And they cannot be candidates as before. This and the Corp HQ restriction will be the only significant limitations of a Free account. Free Account will probably not be able to do things like Upload images or get email notifications when those features eventually get put in. We are working on Asteroid Mining as a new feature and a couple more quests involving the Other factions. You may see those in the next week or two. |

Asteroid Mining
Doctor DreadAdministrator
|
We added Asteroid fields to the game. They show up like small moons scattered through the system and have a handful of resource locations on them. The difference is that they are considered to be "in space" and you cannot land on them with units or build any structures on them . You can "Mine Asteroid", which is a new order type, with any ship or fleet however. Mining at a resource location on an asteroid will put resources into that units cargo bay. The amount is the value of the resource you are mining. A value 15 will mine 15 quantity a turn. You do get a bonus to mining if you have any corporate HQ tech for that product type, but not for Corp HQ being nearby. A 50% bonus on a 12 value resource means you would mine 18 a turn.
There is no extra cost for mining these resources in this way. They are essentially free if you have ships to spare but they are slow production and there is also no way to increase the output besides your tech bonus. There is also a problem with Overcrowding. If multiple ships are mining the same resource at the same time, they split the value of the resource between them. The amount of the split is based on the Power of the units. High power units will take more of the share. Bringing more units or a fleet to mine a resource won't yield any more production but it will bully out other ships trying to mine the same resource. If you try to mine an asteroid with a power 50 ship and there is another player with a fleet power of 10,000, your ship won't be able to mine a single unit of resource and will move onto the next order.
We are experimenting with the asteroid mechanics so they might change in the coming weeks. We might up their output based on how much power you bring to the mining fleet. Possibly mining the full value of the resource for every 100 power you bring (300 power means 3x what the value is) but make an overcrowding mechanic that kicks in at 1000 power similar tot he way overcrowding works now for normal resources except the penalty goes against how much quantity is produced, there is no cost. |

From the company list page there is now an "Assets" link next to each corporations name that will bring up that corporations assets. There is also a Assets link when viewing the Corporation details like you normally do. It is essentially the same list you see in your own corporation. You cannot see another corporations "Overview graph" or accounting pages and probably never will. =)
It should be noted that there is nothing on this new assets page that you couldn't already see through the other view screens. All your assets and where they are and what they are doing is already public knowledge. This page just makes it easier to see what a particular Corporation is doing. |

Combat Criticals

There are now "Combat Criticals" in combat. There's a 20% chance that every unit in a fight will get 3 different bonuses or negatives to that units firepower or damage taken for that turn. That's 12 different possible effects: Attack increase 25, 50 100%, Attack Decrease 10,25,50%. Damage taken increase 25,50,100%, damage taken decreased 10,25,50%. Most units have their own "flavor text" for each critical type on top of some generic ones. I have a Critical Testing ground force one tapping several cities just to put some crits on the board for testing.
The only thing left we wanted to ad before next weeks Beta restart are the Commonwealth and Dark Star pirates. Then we can make events around them, like bribing them to attack people =) |

I was thinking of doing it something like Sins of the Solar Empire. There were persistent Pirates in that game, like an entire planet of them which was difficult to take out, but every 20 mins or so they would attack one of the players. during that time though, the players can throw bribe money at them to attack a specific player. All the money the pirates collected went into the amount of force they would attack with. They would back off after a while but they could do significant damage.
Might be the same thing I do here but in Sins Solar Empire you had like 8 players, here there might 100. Not sure if targeting a single corp would be fair. Maybe a city or planet though. |

Beta Test Reset is coming in April 2017
Doctor DreadAdministrator
|
The only major thing that is changing over the reset itself is the "contraction" of the "Free Zone" from all of Sol to just Earth, You start on Earth, Earth is where you have to keep your Free Account Corp HQ and only Earth has persistent cities controlled by Terran Fed.
That and the resources across the entire game, especialy Earth, is pretty much being halved in quantity and lowered in values across the board. value 10 to 12 at the highest on earth. Most resources type counts are 10 or less except Pasture and Fields at 18 each There are also only going to be 25 cities on Earth now not 40. The other planets were halved also and the high end values are capping at 18. You might see them higher outside of sol. Its rare but it can stack multiple times during random resource generation and end up in the 20s randomly
Those changes neccesitate a reset. The other things you mention like less upkeep for no orders on units and Jump gates can be added without disrupting the game. I imagine that in the month of April after the reset we will do some tweaks like that, maybe some Unit balancing, but no more major game features, thats it =)
The payment system will be worked on, Free account limitations will start to go into place. No image uploads, and comms system messages to email should go in for paid accounts. Ways to cancel your account entirely and change your email etc. THere are some events I want to get in there next month also. |

We just restarted the Beta Test. Everyone's Corporation has been cleared. If you have founder level bonuses from the Kickstarter or PayPal they should be applied when you made your Corporation. There was a group of players who we gave paid status to to test the elections. They still have paid status for this month.
The major change this time around is that the Free Zone is on Earth not Sol and that if you are not on a paid account you should not be able to vote in ANY event that has one.
We're going to be working on the payment system and quality of life features for your profile.
If all goes well we might launch after a months time. Have fun =) |
